There is no music. And for some reason, my iPhone 6S will not let me play a podcast AND Spotify or anything else while it’s playing.

My Workaround

After being a loyal Runmeter person, I switched to RunKeeper because it’s more social.

Runkeeper & Spotify

  1. Download the app to your phone¬†and create your account if you haven’t already.
  2. Click the Start button in the bottom menu.
  3. Choose your activity (Running)
  4. Music (Spotify) – you’ll have to login or load it up. I forgot.
  5. Workout – click on this.
  6. Select Custom
  7. Type the name (N2R Wk 1)
  8. Click Add new action…
  9. You are given 3 options: Slow (Walk), Steady (Slow Run), Fast (Not the first two). Runmeter custom workouts actually give you more options, I think…but I’m using RunKeeper.
  10. I select my Run interval (Steady) first because it will start after my 5-minute warmup walk and select time 30 seconds.
  11. I add another Add new action…
  12. This is my Walk interval (Slow). I set this to 2 minutes for the first week. You can program depending on your week.
  13. I figure out how many time I need to repeat this to hit the time None to Run calls for.
  14. I turn on 5-minute warmup. I skip the 5-minute cooldown because your last interval will be a 2-minute walk.

With each week I look at the None to Run plan, calculate my repeats and do my Spotify playlist.

*Here’s a little pet peeve. When I start my RunKeeper workout, Spotify does not automatically come on. I have to start it separately. But they do play at the same time.
